Dear Parents:

The last two weeks have been amazing! We focus on understanding ourselves and exploring the growth and changes of our bodies. We compared our growth to that of plants and discovered that just like plants need soil, water, and sunlight, we also need nourishment and love to thrive.

In class we observed the similarities between plants and our bodies. Children learn about the different parts of plants - roots, stems, leaves and shoots - and relate these to their own characteristics, such as facial features, bones and organs, each with a unique function.

Additionally, we discussed the importance of individual growth and our responsibilities in the community. Children explore a variety of roles in society including police officers, engineers, pilots, train drivers, hairdressers, gardeners, tailors, astronauts and chefs. Each role plays an important role in ensuring the community runs smoothly.

To consolidate these learnings, children also participated in role plays, simulating various occupations to understand the services provided by these jobs. We even played the role of farmers, "collecting" milk from cows and experiencing the hard work of all walks of life. This experience gave the children a deep understanding of the importance of respecting and appreciating every worker who serves us.
